Saigon Skydeck

Welcome to Wednesdays in December’s series: Towers around the world. This week I will present ‘Saigon Skydeck’, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

I have been to Ho Chi Minh City twice in the past two years. Usually, my stays are no longer than 5 days, which makes it difficult to explore the city due to the busy agenda. However, in my last trip to the city, I was able to visit the Saigon Skydeck – literally 40 minutes before leaving to the airport. I was lucky that my hotel was 2 blocks away.

Saigon Skydeck offers a 360° view of the city and the Saigon River. It is 178 meters high and located on the 49th of Bitexco Financial Tower, with entrance at 36 Ho Tung Mau Street in the Central Business District (District 1) and heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The Bitexco Financial Tower is the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, with its 262.5 meters (68 floors and three basements).

How to get there: The best way to reach ‘Saigon Skydeck’, if you are not within walking distance, is to take a taxi. Taxi in Saigon is safe (if you ask at the hotel) and cheap. Just be aware of the traffic, specially during rush hours. If you want to be a little bit more adventurous, get a Moto-Taxi.

Important tip: before heading to the tower, make sure to check their website or call (08-3915-6156) to confirm the tower’s hours of operation.

Hope you have the chance to visit this iconic building soon, and experience a little bit of Saigon.
